This campaign manager wiki is for Guides (AKA GM or DM) who want to organize, plan, and share their campaign materials.

Create stuff, share with your players, and give them a way to always have a place to check in on NPC or location info, lore dumps, session summaries etc.

This Wiki is opinionated but it shouldn't take long for you to figure what to to and how to adapt it to YOUR use.

  • Rename the wiki by editing the GettingStarted fields.
  • write a short 01 About to fill players and prospect players in with what the game is about
  • set Lines and Veils and other safety tools as needed

Change colours and fidget around in $:/ControlPanel but make sure to save a backup in case you make a mistake

Delete this tiddler when you're done :)

Template - CATS

Before playing a game, or even introducing the rules, there needs to be a conversation at the table to set expectations. A game runs smoothly when all players understand what the group is striving for. But how do you do it? You use the CATS method! Everyone loves CATS.

This codified presentation will allow the facilitator to hit four essential topics quickly and easily. Just start from the top.

Concept

Pitch this game. At a high-level, whatโ€™s it about?

Aim

Explain what the players are trying to accomplish. Can someone win? Can everyone lose? Are we trying to tell a specific type of story?

Tone

Have a quick conversation about the tone of the game. What is the default? Are there different options for gameplay? (Serious vs. Gonzo, Action vs. Drama, etc.). Come to a consensus on what the group wants.

Subject Matter

Explain what ideas might be explored during gameplay. Do they make anyone uncomfortable? Discuss what boundaries need to be set, if any.

Conclusion & Credits

Afterwards, everyone should have the same expectations for the upcoming game. This discussion shouldnโ€™t be long, but it is essential. To significantly improve your gaming experience, spend five minutes with CATS before you play!

Forge from the heart of your world a table of things: letโ€™s say 10 or so, that make up the foundation of the world. Then, whenever you need to create something new in the world, roll on the table, and connect it in some way to that anchor.

When you roll 1d10 to connect an anchor, roll 1d12 as well and assign it to this table

1d12 Strength or Relation
1Fleeting. Youโ€™ll have to squint to see it.
2Lightest Touch. A simple, esoteric connection.
3Light Touch. The anchor is present, but not the main draw.
4Regular. The anchor is present.
5Strong Touch. The anchor is governing the element.
6Overwhelming Connection. The anchor is directly connected.
7Antagonistic Connection. The element is directly opposed to the anchor.
8Dependent Connection. The element depends on the anchor.
9Supportive Connection. The element supports the anchor in an auxiliary way.
10Unaware Connection. The element is unaware of its connection to the anchor.
11Allied. The element works for or directly with the anchor.
12Betrayed. The element worked with the anchor at one point, but no longer does.
